The Serpentine Pavilion publishes Archipelagic Void: Mass Studies, a volume that includes five collections with various contributions from international architects, featuring a text by Stefano Boeri titled Circular Mass, included in the Reflections collection.

Designed by Minsuk Cho and his studio, Mass Studies, the Serpentine Pavilion 2024 Archipelagic Void is composed of five “islands” arranged around a central circular void. Each “island” is unique in its dimensions, height, and shape, serving a different purpose and bearing an individual name.

Similarly, the publication—conceived in close collaboration with Cho—brings together voices from the worlds of architecture, art, and poetry, including contributions from Eun-Me Ahn, Iwan Baan, Heman Chong and Renée Staal, Kenneth Frampton, Beatrice Galilee, Renée Green, Kim Hyesoon, Jang Young Gyu, and Alex Taek-Gwang Lee.

The catalog also includes an extensive interview between the architect and Hans Ulrich Obrist, which introduces Cho’s studio and delves into the research, development, and ideas behind the 2024 Pavilion.

Stefano Boeri’s text describes a joint project with Mass Studies in Milan in 2008 during Milan Design Week, located in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The Ring Dome is presented in terms of both its architectural characteristics and the experience of the space itself.
