The North West Thessaloniki Development Agency invited Boeri Studio to develop a masterplan for the territory known as “North West Arc”; this area includes 11 municipalities around Thessaloniki (Greece). The project assumed that the priority for NWT was not a masterplan, but rather a strategy of development. Seven were major issues addressed: complementarity, Balkan Gate, District Park, the barracks, diversity, mobility and work. Each strategic issue implies: an analysis of possible interconnecting scenarios; identification of specific issues for intervention and goals; definition of procedures, such as actors to involve, phasing and financing aspects. A limited but visible practical action which should be taken as soon as possible as sample of a strategy for the area.
