The competition for the new Cornered housing block concerns the urban renewal of an area encompassing four different towns – Lugano, Cernobbio, Porza, Pregassona – and it also will be involved in the opening of the new main road of Lugano. The project is about the realization of two streets: one sort of “expressway” to connect directly the main street towards the city centre, with an interactive parking lot on different levels as well; the other will support the neighborhoods, to help the facilities, such as the mall and the sports services, opening on the main street, but not accessible by it. Another important project element is the sports square, to connect the stadium and the ice stadium, made up of stripes with different functions like green zones, parking and the playground.
