The project for Siracusa’s waterfront is a reflection upon the nature of the space created between the city and the sea, and on the kind of relationship these two powerful entities establish with time.
The purpose of the project is to trigger a more vital and conscious relationship between the city and the sea border. This new relation aims to create a multi-layered space, linked to a dynamic idea of the city, able to put in communication the flows of the port with those of tourism, city life with visitors’ habits, urban space with the maritime customs.
We imagine a hybrid but eloquent space, capable of fully interpreting the transition between places so strongly connected; a space that preserves the distinct nature of the sites that it separates, absorbing, meanwhile, resources and energies from both.
