Il Sole 24 Ore publishes an article presenting the largest plantation of Parco Italia, proposed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and AlberItalia, in the Malcontenta area (Venice).
The strategies for the Parco Italia project stem from the idea, simple yet strategically complex, of creating a vast network of forests and ecological connections that physically unite urban and coastal areas with the extensive forest structure and protected areas. The project plans to extend urban forestation to 15 metropolitan areas (Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Messina, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Turin, Venice), allowing them to be connected, through green corridors, with the Apennine ridge and the Alpine system, creating a single large infrastructure across the peninsula. This would result in a unified system leading to the planting of over 22 million new trees within a few years.
Together with VSF and the Veneto Region, Stefano Boeri Architetti announces the planting of 14,320 trees in a 9-hectare area in Malcontenta, in the Municipality of Venice. This is the largest planting carried out so far – the Malcontenta (VE) plantation is the third completed by Parco Italia in Veneto after planting 3,858 trees in 3 hectares in Camisano Vicentino (VI) and 8,763 trees in 7 hectares in Mogliano Veneto (TV). In the coming months, a fourth project will be initiated near Verona, bringing the total number of trees planted in Veneto to 28,941.
