Trudo Vertical Forest su The Plan

The website The Plan dedicates an article to Trudo Vertical Forest, the first example of a vertical forest entirely dedicated to social housing, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti in Eindhoven.

Designed to primarily accommodate low-income users—such as young professionals and students—the Eindhoven tower offers affordable yet high-quality rental apartments. The complex vision of “residential” coexistence between humans and other species is thus amplified in the project with a dual challenge: the possibility of combining the significant challenge of the environmental crisis with the urgent need for affordable housing in contemporary cities.

The building consists of 19 floors and 125 units dedicated to social housing, flexible to meet future consolidation needs and capable of defining new housing standards for the sector.

Each apartment, with a contained area calibrated for the type of user it is intended for (less than 50 sqm), benefits from the spatial extension offered by balconies of over 4 sqm and the micro-natural environment formed by the presence of 1 tree and 20 shrubs on each balcony. Overall, the residential tower of Trudo Vertical Forest hosts 135 trees of various species on its four facades, developed to a height of 75 meters, along with approximately 5,200 shrubs and smaller plants, and other vegetation, for a total of about 8,500 plants.
