Sky Arte dedicates an article to the book ‘Bosco Verticale. Morphology of a Vertical Forest’, produced on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Bosco Verticale in Milan (Boeri Studio).
The book, published by Rizzoli and edited by Stefano Boeri Architetti, traces the history of the two residential towers, completed in 2014 in the Porta Nuova district, which integrated architecture and living nature for the first time, anticipating new frontiers of urban living.
The structure of the book evokes the growth of a tree: the roots represent the intuition of an innovative idea, generated from creative and artistic inspirations; the trunk describes the genesis of the project, the challenges faced in structural, technological and environmental terms, the construction site, the impact on the transformation of the area and the urban landscape; the branches illustrate the life of the Bosco Verticale: on the one hand the positioning in the context of international architecture, marking a change of trajectory towards the integration of living nature in the urban environment, and on the other hand the autonomous path as a symbol and catalyst of biodiversity, also in the collective popular imagination.
The book includes textual contributions by international authors and scholars, drawings, sketches, unpublished illustrations and photographs documenting the building in different seasons and years, from its construction to the present day.
