At this point Milan boasts one of the most innovative skyline in Europe: from Vertical Forest to Unicredit Tower, verticality predominates on the new milanese urban landscape. During the last decade the city has changed its face welcoming a new metropolitan reality with the center between Porta Nuova and Porta Volta.
“Until a few years ago when you thought of Milan the first thing coming to your mind was Virgin Mary rising on the pinnacles of Duomo, and fascist architecture of Piazza Duca D’Aosta and Central Station or the neoclassical charm of the elegant central streets. Milan was associated with the canals, the courtyard houses, the Doors with their big Napoleonic bastions”. Today we see a constantly evolving urban physiognomy which leaves room to the new skyscrapers and contemporary architecture icons, such as the projects of Gioia 22, the new headquarters of UnipolSai, Unicredit tower, Vertical Forest, Allianz tower, the Generali Assicurazioni tower designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Solaria tower, Diamante tower, the Maire Tecnimont towers.
Milan changes soul and face. In fact, the skyline reflects the fact that the city becomes a showcase for design, trade and work. “The headquarters of such giants, as Amazon, Samsung, LinkedIn and Google, this logistics convergence transformed the neighborhood in a little Italian Mountain View, hi-tech capital, innovation center and ideal place to look for (and find) a job”.
