Bosco Verticale su La Vanguardia

The Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia has published an article titled Cuando el museo es tu casa (When the Museum is Your Home), exploring what it means to live in iconic architectural structures. Among the examples mentioned is the Bosco Verticale (Boeri Studio) in Milan.

The article features insights from both architects and residents of these remarkable buildings, highlighting international examples from Spain to Buenos Aires. The Bosco Verticale, inaugurated in 2014 in Milan’s Porta Nuova district, is the only Italian project included.

“It’s like living inside a living canvas, a work of art in constant evolution. Every day is different: greenery bursts into life in spring, leaves glow in autumn […] The foliage creates a natural screen that shelters us. So when I see people stopping to take pictures, I smile. It doesn’t bother me at all, because I remember when I too looked at this place with wide-eyed wonder,” shares a resident of Bosco Verticale.

The building consists of two towers, 80 and 112 meters high, hosting a total of 800 trees (480 large and medium-sized trees, 300 smaller ones), 15,000 perennial and ground-covering plants, and 5,000 shrubs. This vegetation is equivalent to 30,000 square meters of forest and undergrowth, concentrated within 3,000 square meters of urban space—shifting the focus from humans alone to the relationship between humans and other living species.
