The Ingenio website publishes an article by Dalila Cuoghi titled “New Ways to Conceive Roofs in Contemporary Architecture,” which includes Stefano Boeri Architetti’s project for the Xi’an Culture Modern Technology Experience Center as one of the examples. This project aims to create a central aggregative element for the city through a technology museum designed as an artistic and social hub for the community.

From simple protective elements to key architectural features, from healthcare-related covers to cultivable green roofs, the international projects presented demonstrate how roofs can transform into livable spaces, elements of connection with the surrounding context, and distinctive marks of modern, innovative, and sustainable architecture.

The goal of the Culture Modern Technology Experience Center project is to create a permeable and publicly accessible system capable of activating new urban connections on various levels. The new museum in Xi’an is designed as an open architecture to trigger an urban regeneration process and attract a broad audience, including technology enthusiasts, children, and students. It will be a place for study, in-depth learning, research, and cutting-edge technological innovation, in the heart of one of the most important cities in Chinese history.

The project features a green roof garden in continuity with the park and a system of terraces that allow visitors to ascend the building and gain a new perspective on the surrounding urban panorama. The green terraces and steps, open and accessible to all citizens, will also be an integral part of the museum’s cultural event program. These areas can host screenings, activities, shows, and performances, offering citizens a new public outdoor space with unique views of the park and the city.
