The American lifestyle platform Indulge Magazine has published an article highlighting the best books on art, design, and architecture—featuring BOSCO VERTICALE, Morphology of a Vertical Forest, curated by Stefano Boeri Architetti, the comprehensive monograph dedicated entirely to the project.
Published by Rizzoli, the book celebrates the tenth anniversary of the inauguration of the Porta Nuova development in Milan. Its editorial structure reflects the organic growth of a tree—root, trunk, and branches. The roots represent the inception of an innovative idea, inspired by creative and artistic intuitions. The trunk narrates the genesis of the project and the challenges faced—structural, technological, and environmental—along with the construction phase and the impact of the Vertical Forest on both the local area and the broader urban landscape. The branches embody the living life of the Bosco Verticale: on one hand, its positioning within the international architectural discourse, marking a paradigm shift toward the integration of living nature in cities; on the other, its autonomous path as a symbol and catalyst of biodiversity—both real and imagined.
The book features contributions from renowned international authors and scholars, including Beatriz Colomina, Emanuele Coccia, Paul Hawken, Vittorio Lingiardi, Manuel Orazi, Matilda van den Bosch, and James Wines. These essays are accompanied by design drawings and sketches, original illustrations by comic artist Enrico Pinto, and photographs of the building across different seasons and years—by Laura Cionci, Elisa Galluzzo, Dimitar Harizanov, Giovanni Nardi, and Paolo Rosselli—as well as a special photographic portfolio by Iwan Baan, created specifically for this volume.
