China aim at green and innovation to reduce the pollution impact and emissions made by metropolis in quick expansion.
The administration of Liuzhou, city in the Guangxi province, has appointed the studio Stefano Boeri Architetti for the construction of Liuzhou Forest City, a city in which buildings will be covered by over one million plants and 40 thousand trees.
Buildings are designed on the principle of the Vertical Forest, in this manner vegetation will absorb CO2 and pollutants, producing oxygen and fueling the growth of local biodiversity. The city aspires to energy self-sufficiency through the use of renewable energies and internal-external thermoregulation created by trees.
The studio Stefano Boeri Architetti has already realized in China the project of the Vertical Forest of Nanjing, inspired by Vertical Forest in Milan, and is active in other projects in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
