On Il Giornale dell’Architettura a reflection by Marc Palahì, European Forest Institute director, after the World Forum on Urban Forests, an event, promoted by FAO, that last November took place in Mantua and gathered professionals and researchers such us Stefano Boeri to discuss on environmental issues linked to urban settlements.
In fact Palahì underlines the importance of cities, cradle of human civilization that host, just from this century, half of the world population and are to be considered a laboratory itself for a wider reflection on the urban growth and the consequences of such a rapid phenomenon. Urban Forestry contains a contrast in its expression since forests in the city aren’t existing, or better weren’t existing, and in this substantial diversity between cities and biological systems that we should find the solutions to tackle climate change effects.
