Trudo Vertical Forest su Dezeen

Dezeen, as part of the Social Housing Revival initiative dedicated to social housing, publishes an article bringing together 50 architecture firms from around the world currently at the forefront of the social housing resurgence, also mentioning Stefano Boeri Architetti for their Trudo Vertical Forest project in Eindhoven.

Among the international firms – from the United States to Singapore, from Mexico to Finland – Stefano Boeri Architetti is one of only two Italian firms featured.

Within the framework of Stefano Boeri Architetti’s vision for a new architecture of biodiversity, the Trudo Vertical Forest applies the Vertical Forest model to social housing for the first time.

Designed to primarily accommodate low-income residents – such as young professionals and students – the tower in Eindhoven houses rent-controlled apartments of high living quality. The complex vision of “living” coexistence between humans and other species is thus amplified in the project as a dual challenge: the possibility of combining the significant challenge of the environmental crisis with the urgent need for affordable housing in contemporary cities.

Trudo Vertical Forest represents a significant milestone: by making the Vertical Forest typology accessible to all, even to tenants with low income, the project demonstrates how living amidst trees and greenery is not an exclusive prerogative, but can indeed become a viable choice for citizens with vastly different economic backgrounds.
