Monza su Corriere della Sera

Corriere della Sera features an interview by Rosella Redaelli with Stefano Boeri, highlighting and presenting the ongoing projects of Stefano Boeri Architetti in Monza.

Starting with the project currently under construction for the redevelopment of the Aler housing, which aims to improve the living conditions of residents through the architectural and energy regeneration of two buildings on Via Baradello, in the heart of Monza’s industrial area, the article also delves into the Integrated Intervention Program for Via Foscolo and the new project at the Arengario.

The first project introduces a new balance between built spaces, greenery, and public areas, promoting environmental sustainability and urban quality. Stefano Boeri Architetti’s current proposal, developed as a variant of the plan presented in 2014, envisions two low-rise buildings that gradually step down in height. This approach reduces visual impact and land consumption compared to the original design, enhancing the relationship between built surfaces and open spaces. The volumes are concentrated around a central courtyard surrounded by public spaces that include pedestrian and cycling paths, a 1,200 m² plaza, and 2,000 m² of pedestrian areas.

Regarding the Arengario, Boeri states: “We will present three proposals to the Municipality and the Superintendence. The challenge is to combine the beauty of a historic building with the themes of functionality and accessibility. There’s also a personal connection: my mother worked on the Duomo museum, and I remember how proud she was and how passionately she spoke about that construction site.”
