On Arqa, an architecture, design and contemporary art magazine, a descriptive article describes the Smart Forest City of Cancun, a foundation city designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, focused on technological innovation and environmental quality, enhanced by the presence of 400 hectares of green spaces and 7,500,000 native plants carefully chosen by Laura Gatti.
A good work team – led by Stefano Boeri and Francesca Cesa Bianchi – has elaborated the project in every aspect making it, thanks also to the contribution of the Transsolar group, completely self-sufficient in terms of food and energy. As surrounded by a ring of solar panels and agricultural fields irrigated by a network of water channels, the new city will be deeply characterized by a circular economy capable of guaranteeing energy and water for human and green inhabitants.
