In Adnkronos, an interview with Stefano Boeri highlights issues related to the challenges of contemporary cities, emphasising the importance of multiplying trees and plants in urban contexts, along streets, in courtyards, on roofs as well as on buildings, as in the case of the Vertical Forest .
“In our cities about 70 to 75 per cent of the surface area of streets and squares is occupied by parked cars, which means metal sheets that get hot in summer and thus multiply the heat. We have to realise that to live better we have to drastically reduce the number of parked cars in cities and replace them with lines of trees and greenery. It is a gradual process that cannot be done overnight but has to be done”, adds Stefano Boeri.
