From June 10 to June 14, 2024, Livia Shamir, Director Research Department, and Sofia Paoli from the Research Department of Stefano Boeri Architetti are in Copenaghen, hosted by the Municipality, to meet with the partners of the ELABORATOR project and conduct workshop activities and sharing of practices from the Lighthouse Cities, the pilot cities testing the key interventions.
After the first Plenary Meeting in Issy-les-Moulineaux (January 31-February 1), full of engaging moments and collaborative efforts, reaffirming once again ELABORATOR’s commitment to designing sustainable urban mobility and promoting climate-neutral cities, the group of 38 partners gathered for a second plenary meeting in Copenhagen, one of ELABORATOR’s ‘Lighthouse Cities’. During the four-day meeting, partners had the opportunity to take stock of the project’s progress and co-creatively take further steps toward developing climate-neutral cities and sustainable urban mobility projects for our Living Labs.
The first day, opened with a twinning workshop between ‘Lighthouse City’ Copenaghen and the ‘Follower City’ Lund, which aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange between the two on their sustainable urban mobility interventions.
Over the next three days, multiple workshops were arranged to facilitate collaborative ideation and kick-start new work streams on critical project elements between cities and technical partners, staying true to the co-creative nature of the project.
ELABORATOR, an acronym for “The European Living Lab on designing sustainable urban mobility towards climate neutral cities,” is a project funded by the Horizon Europe research and innovation program that uses a holistic approach to plan, design, implement and deploy innovations and specific interventions towards safe, inclusive and sustainable urban mobility.
The goal of ELABORATOR is to make cities climate-neutral through key interventions such as smart enforcement tools, space redesign, shared services, and integration of transportation modes. These interventions will be co-designed and co-created with user groups vulnerable to exclusion, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
ELABORATOR is a multidisciplinary group composed of 38 partners who bring to the table their expertise on the topic, working in the breath of users and local authorities.
ELABORATOR project partner Stefano Boeri Architetti – part of the Milan Living Lab, alongside the Municipality of Milan, AMAT (Agenzia Mobilità Ambiente Territorio) and THINGS – is in Copenhagen to build a strategy for sustainable and accessible mobility and quality urban spaces through workshop activities.
