On No Stop News, the Rtl 102.5 programme with Barbara Sala, Luigi Santarelli and Valentina Ianniccelli, Stefano Boeri shared his vision of strategies to ensure the quality of life in both large cities and smaller towns.

In recent years, the debate on the livability or unlivability of cities has become increasingly central: traffic congestion, pollution, excessively high rents and house purchase costs.

In this interview, Stefano Boeri highlights some of the measures that can guarantee the future of cities. These include renewable energy and green spaces. The presence of greenery is a great help because it reduces the presence of carbon dioxide in the air, but also because it provides shade, an element that is increasingly necessary for the lives of citizens today,” says Stefano Boeri.

The Vertical Forest (Boeri Studio) is an example of functionality, aesthetic beauty and technological efficiency. The first case, built in the Porta Nuova area of Milan, consists of two towers, 80 m and 112 m high, housing a total of 800 trees, 15,000 perennials and/or groundcovers and 5,000 shrubs.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Vertical Forest in Milan (Boeri Studio), Rizzoli has published the book ‘Bosco Verticale. Morphology of a Vertical Forest‘, edited by Stefano Boeri Architetti, a comprehensive monograph dedicated to the project. The volume explores the genesis, development and global impact of the project, which invites us to rethink the relationship between city and nature.
