On Wednesday 12 March 2025, at 6 pm, the Sala Buzzati in Milan, Via Balzan 3, will host the conference “Architecture as civil commitment (in memory of Vittorio Gregotti)“, with a talk by Stefano Boeri.

The event, organised by the Fondazione Corriere della Sera, is an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of Vittorio Gregotti, one of Italy’s most influential architects, and on the role of architecture as an expression of civic commitment, a way of thinking and changing the world, rather than a gesture or a technique. With a degree in architecture from Milan Polytechnic, Gregotti has taught architecture in Venice, Milan and Palermo. Considered one of Italy’s leading architectural theorists and critics, Vittorio Gregotti has collaborated with the architectural magazine ‘Casabella’, of which he was editor from 1955 to 1963, and has lectured at universities in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Lausanne, Harvard, Philadelphia, Princeton and Cambridge, among others.

After the opening welcome by Ferruccio de Bortoli, there will be speeches by Stefano Boeri, Benno Albrecht, Guido Morpurgo and Marco Tronchetti Provera, as well as a video contribution by Massimo Cacciari. The conference will be hosted by Pierluigi Panza.

Entrance to the conference ‘Architecture as a civic commitment’ is free, but registration is compulsory.
