The Ramsgate International Film Festival, scheduled for June 25-30, 2024, an event where works by local and international filmmakers are celebrated, and which includes the documentary “Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest”.
The Ramsgate International Film Festival is held in Ramsgate, with its Royal Harbour, England. Screenings are complemented by a full program of events and seminars, featuring industry professionals. The Ramsgate International Film Festival also offers panel discussions with leading representatives of the film industry and special programs curated to promote international cinema.
The documentary “Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest” by The Blink Fish (directed by Stefano Santamato and produced by Paolo Soravia) recounts – through in-depth features and interviews with the protagonists of the project – the development of the building that to date has become a new architectural icon in the Eindhoven skyline.
From the history of the Strijp-S neighborhood, a former industrial area now redeveloped, to the neighborhood’s current creative vocation, the documentary outlines Trudo Vertical Forest’s role as a landmark in the area; special attention is paid to the architectural and technological, as well as environmental, innovations related to the design development and construction of the building: prefabrication and the careful study of greenery have made it possible to significantly lower the project’s construction costs, making it economically accessible to low-income segments of the population.
To date, Trudo Vertical Forest is a unique project in the international architectural scene, to the point that it has received-just one year after completion-a number of awards, including the Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Award (2022) and the 23rd Energy Globe Award (2022).
