The Wonderwoods project, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and MVSA Architects in the center of Utrecht, has been selected as a finalist for the MIPIM Awards 2025 in the Best Mixed-Use Project category.
The complex, consisting of two towers connected by a pedestrian bridge on the lower floors, engages with the urban environment both through an open ground floor accessible to citizens and through a vertical development that harmonizes with the proportions of the surrounding city block. In particular, Wonderwoods Vertical Forest, by integrating residential areas with offices, fitness and yoga spaces, bicycle parking, and public and recreational areas, aims to become the new wellness hub in the center of Utrecht.
The project serves as a model for the integration of diverse activities and functions. The base of the tower features a dynamic system of duplex residences that combine living spaces with ateliers, alongside hospitality and commercial areas, extending up to the fifth floor.
The Wonderwoods Vertical Forest tower is an evolution of the Bosco Verticale. Standing 105 meters tall, it hosts approximately 200 apartments of various types, catering to a diverse range of residents, including young professionals, workers, and families. The tower’s façades accommodate around 50,000 plants from 30 different species, equivalent to the vegetation found in one hectare of forest—forming a true urban ecosystem capable of producing approximately 41 tons of oxygen each year.
