On Monday May 15th at 6 p.m., as part of the cycle of meetings entitled Milano Modernissima, La Nuova Identità Urbana (Milan’s New Urban Identity), the event Milano è una città di grattacieli? (Is Milan a city of skyscrapers?) is held at Creative Hub of the One Works studio in via Sciesa 3, with the participation of Stefano Boeri.
The meeting, which will include a discussion introduced by Mario Botta and Fulvio Irace together with the designers of the buildings taken into consideration, such as Stefano Boeri, Cino Zucchi, Michele Reginaldi, Maurice Kanah and, for a non-Milanese point of view, his Catalan colleague Carles Muro, is an opportunity to reflect on the scenario of Milan created by the towers and skyscrapers built in the last twenty years, without excluding those that have been renovated, are under construction or are only planned, in order to assess how urban identity is evolving even on a metropolitan scale.
Among the most important examples, from Torre Galfa to Torre Velasca, up to the more recent Torre in Piazza Tirana and Tre Torri in City Life, the Bosco Verticale by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, Giovanni La Varra) in the Porta Nuova area is taken into consideration, the prototype-building of a new architecture of biodiversity, which no longer focuses only on man, but also on the relationship between man and other living species.
