On January 11th, Stefano Boeri will give a lecture entitled “Is living nature a basic component of architecture?” in Madrid. Italian architect will unveil the details of the research on Urban Forestry campaign, his studio is currently working on, as an effective way to reverse the climate change. The lecture will be focused on the variations of Vertical Forests, that are being developed all over the world after the success of Bosco Verticale – the first prototype of such architecture built in Milan, awarded by Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) as “Best Tall Building Worldwide 2015”. Architect Boeri will be introduced by Martha Thorne, Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and Dean in the architecture school at IE University in Madrid.
The event opens the cultural program of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) and Fundación Arquitectura COAM, which will involve several protagonists of international architecture, such as Eduardo Souto de Moura and Francisco Mangado. In the calendar there’s also a debate between Norman Foster and Frank Gehry which will take place for the first time in Spain.
