On Thursday November 9th, Ultraspace in Turin hosts the event Le Serate di Architettura Green, curated by Il Giornale dell’Architettura and organised by Cult Lab, with the participation of Pietro Chiodi, Partner and Director of Stefano Boeri Architetti.
After an introduction to the meeting by Cristiana Chiorino, Il Giornale dell’Architettura, at 7. 15 Pietro Chiodi, for 6 years project leader of Stefano Boeri Architetti’s projects in China, presents Green Obsession: Trees Towards Cities, Humans Towards Forests, illustrating the main projects that take concrete form in the integration of living nature into architecture, such as the Vertical Forest in Hunaggang, built in 2021, and Nanjing, currently under construction; and mentioning the studio’s new research, towards, for example, retrofitting – integrating the green component to buildings already built, as in the case of the redevelopment of the ALER houses in Monza.
Thanks to its ‘Green Obsession’, studio Stefano Boeri Architetti was honoured in 2023 by the United Nations with the UN SDGs Action Award in the ‘Inspire‘ category, as it ‘imagines sustainable cities and communities that prioritise health and well-being, while intensifying climate action through its creative approach to urban planning, ecological connectivity and urban forestry – meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals’. Along with masterplans and urban plans in various cities, the firm is currently working on numerous architectural projects, including the Cedar Tower (Lausanne), Balcon sur Paris (Paris), Wonderwoods (Utrecht, in the pipeline) and the redevelopment of the San Cristoforo district in Milan with the Bosconavigli project.
