Wednesday, May 15th 2019, at 3.30 p.m. at the Académie des beaux arts in Paris, the director Muriel Mayette-Holtz becomes officially one of the Immortels de France.
Stefano Boeri who designed, together with Anastasia Kucherova of Stefano Boeri Architetti, the wooden sword, realized by Maurizio Riva of Riva1920, Muriel Mayette-Holtz is going to receive this very important aknowledgement with, will also be present at the event.
The wooden sword has been realized by a unique piece of an ancient trunk that belongs to the Kauri (Agathis Australis) species, a type of conifer tree that lives exclusively in the sub-tropical climate of New Zeland. Kauri trees are among the tallest trees in the world with an average height of 70 meters and a diameter of 9 meters.
Murielle Mayette-Holtz is going to take the place at the Institut de France of the latest Maurice Béjart and the wooden sword she is going to succeed to him with represents in all its simplicity the complexe and costant game of the theatrical representation that follows and forsees real life taking its strenght from a very old past and with a certain taste for a game that aims to submit but somehow escapes the order required by the discipline.
