On Wednesday, December 6th, the second day of the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) for Climate & Energy South Asia Regional Workshop was held in Kathmandu, Nepal – an event to exchange and connect major cities on environmental and climate issues, in which Stefano Boeri Architetti is participating, with Lucrezia De Marco, head of the Communication Department.
The second day was devoted to solutions and priorities for driving the green transition process: climate finance tools for cities were presented, with the aim of strengthening their ability to submit financially effective proposals.
In particular:
Ms. Jazlyn Lee, Regional Focal Point for Southeast and South Asia for The City Climate Gap Fund, presented the City Climate GAP Fund.
Mr. Giuseppe Scarascia Mugnozza, Director of EFI, presented the value of Nature Based Solutions especially in the context of flood risk mitigation and ecological restoration perspective. Scarascia Mugnozza also presented the book Transforming Biocities: Designing Urban Spaces Inspired by Nature (Springer, 2023), which features as editors, Vicente Guallart (architect), Fabio Salbitano (professor, University of Sassari), Giovanna Ottaviani Aalmo (researcher, Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research), and Stefano Boeri, emphasizing the role of Stefano Boeri Architetti as innovators in the NBSs field.
The second day also featured a presentation by Lucrezia De Marco, head of the firm’s Communications Department, focusing on Stefano Boeri Architetti’s philosophy and projects at the territorial scale-from master plans to larger visions, with a special focus on urban forestry strategies.
