Saturday November 18th at the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, the National Conference “I Giardini Terapeutici: dagli Horti Simplicium agli Healing Gardens” (“Therapeutic Gardens: from the Horti Simplicium to the Healing Gardens”) organised by the Associazione Culturale Ospedali Storici Italiani – ACOSI is held, with the participation of Marco Giorgio, Partner and Director of Stefano Boeri Architetti.
The event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., sees a talk by Marco Giorgio, together with Arch. Giovanni La Varra, of the Barreca & La Varra studio, entitled “The City, the Hospital and the Garden: the New Policlinic of Milan”, focusing on Boeri Studio’s project for the new Policlinic of Milan, characterised by a hanging garden of over 7. 000 square metres, whose use is initially reserved for the patients and operators of the various wards, but which in the future may be opened to the public for special events of a recreational and therapeutic nature. Among the main Urban Forestation projects planned in Milan, the Policlinico’s green roof is enriched by the added value linked to the chromo-therapeutic potential of its landscape, with its changing essences in the different seasons. It also contains a rehabilitation garden, furrowed by paths with different levels of difficulty related to various types of flooring.
