DLD Nature, the conference that brings together experts from science, economics, politics and culture to discuss the various pathways to achieve the goal of preserving Earth’s biodiversity and addressing the climate crisis, is being held in Munich from September 12-13, featuring Stefano Boeri.

Our planet, the United Nations warns, is “suffering the greatest loss of life since the time of the dinosaurs”: 25 percent of plant and animal species are at risk of extinction, and the rate at which global biodiversity continues to decline is increasing, largely due to the destruction of natural habitats by factors such as deforestation, pollution, urbanization, and industrial agriculture.

Speakers, including Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Vandana Shiva, President of Navdanya – an organization that originated the movement to defend food and seed sovereignty, the commons, and the rights of smallholder farmers around the world – will present the latest technological advances and best practices from different sectors, highlighting how innovation and collaboration can pave the way to a healthier planet.

On Friday, September 13, Stefano Boeri and Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, will talk about Biodiverse Metropoles, a reflection on the most efficient sustainable strategies for contemporary cities in times of climate emergency, and how architecture can address the great challenges of the 21st century, with a focus on Urban Forestry, energy resource management, and social issues.
