Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest ai CTBUH 2023

Stefano Boeri Architetti’s  Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest project receives the Award of Excellence from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) 2023 and is among the finalists in the Best Tall Building under 100 metres category. The CTBUH recognises and rewards the best tall buildings in an urban environment: awards are given in more than 20 categories for the best tall buildings, urban habitat, innovation, renovation, interior design, construction and engineering. The finalists in each category present their projects to an international audience and a live jury during the Conference, where the winners are selected and the awards are presented in an official ceremony. Awards are presented in more than 20 categories for the best tall buildings, urban habitat, innovation, renovation, interior design, construction and engineering. The finalists in each category present their projects to an international audience and a live jury during the Conference, where the winners are selected and prizes are awarded in an official ceremony.

Together with five other finalists, the Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest is on the shortlist to be presented at the International Conference taking place from 16 to 21 October in Singapore.
The complex, located in the city of Huanggang in China’s Hubei province, consists of five towers, two of which are residential (80 m high) designed on the model of Milan’s Bosco Verticale. In fact, the two towers host a total of 404 trees, 4620 shrubs and 2408 square metres of perennials, flowers and climbing plants, selected by a team of experts and botanists from among the local species suitable for planting in pots and at heights, taking into account a series of criteria including expected growth: the irregular arrangement of the balconies is in fact conceived and designed to allow the crowns of the trees to fit perfectly into the design of the façade, defining a constant dialogue between the architectural design and the characteristics of the plant essences. As in the other Boschi Verticali projects around the world, one of the main objectives is precisely the integration between architecture and living nature, which transforms vegetation into an essential – and not simply ornamental – element of the project.
