The 9th CREDAWARD – Real Estate Design Awards ceremony was held in Shanghai, where the Gold Award in the Future (Concept) Projects category was given to Nanjing Vertical Forest, a project by Stefano Boeri Architetti currently under construction in the Chinese city.
The CREDAWARD – Real Estate Design Awards, established by DJCER in 2014, is a prestigious international award in the field of design that rewards projects on the basis of their architectural quality, environmental sustainability, user enjoyment and the economic spin-off they generate. The jury is composed of representatives from academia and architects.
Located in the Ninjing Pukou District, an area destined to guide the modernisation process of southern Jiangsu and the development of the Yangtze River area, the two towers that make up the Nanjing Vertical Forest complex are characterised by the presence of 600 large trees, 200 medium-sized trees and more than 2,500 shrubs and drop plants covering an area of 4,500 square metres.
The project is designed as a true vertical forest that contributes to regenerating local biodiversity – through the planting of 27 native species – to absorbing CO2 and fine dust, helping to improve air quality, and to regulating the local microclimate
