The Fondazione Maimeri, in collaboration with Milano Painting Academy, presents the first meeting of the Rassegna “Concetti Disegnati“, with the participation of Stefano Boeri, on Friday 1 December at 6 pm at the Milano Painting Academy.
The first meeting, entitled “Concetti Disegnati – i Boschi Verticali: Ispirazioni e Sperimentazioni.” explores the synergies between art, drawing and architecture; an exploration between concepts and urban facts.
Stefano Boeri’s talk focuses on the evolution and realisation of the “Boschi Verticali” (Vertical Woods), offering an unprecedented perspective on the marriage of nature and architecture in urban contexts.
“The new Vertical Forests that have been built or are under construction represent for us steps forward, in different directions, towards the refinement and adaptation of the typology: cutting costs with sustainable and innovative technological solutions, as in Eindhoven; or radically changing the urban landscape and the expectations of the population for a future sustainable city, in a place where pollution is a very serious problem, as in Huanggang in China; or adapting to a different climatic context, as in Egypt. Thinking of new ways to inhabit the cities of the future, with a view to greater integration with the environment, less consumption of resources – I am referring to land and energy consumption, but also to water consumption, which is a fundamental issue today – is the challenge that we must increasingly set ourselves and that design and architecture must urgently take up,” says Stefano Boeri.
