Green Obsession, Trees Towards Cities, Humans Towards Forests, the design philosophy guiding the work of Stefano Boeri Architetti studio, has been awarded a special mention at the CMCC Climate Change Communication Award “Rebecca Ballestra”, an award that valorises innovative initiatives for communicating environmental issues, in the sphere of education culture, art and social commitment.
Selected among 327 international initiatives, Green Obsession’s candidature was justified by the jury as follows: “Trees Towards Cities, Humans Towards Forests is an approach to architecture and urban planning, but more importantly it is the way to imagine the future of contemporary cities”.
Indeed, the Green Obsession: Trees Towards Cities, Humans Towards Forests campaign, which has already won the UN SDG Action Award, aims to connect cities with the natural sphere and bring together experts from different sectors and disciplines (scientists, politicians, environmentalists, architects, ethologists, researchers, urban planners, city-makers…) towards the common goal of multiplying trees in cities: both by creating new synergies between them and by supporting the dissemination of urban forestation and nature-based solutions strategies to the general public
The winner of the Award – together with any special mentions – are announced during the award ceremony, on November 16th at Fortezza da Basso, Florence.
