On Tuesday October 3rd, the CerviaAmbiente award 2023 is awarded to Stefano Boeri, who participates online to the conference on the theme “The cities of the future, how to respond to the challenges on climate change”, which is held at 5 p.m., after a greeting by the mayor Massimo Medri, at the Darsena del Sale in Cervia.
The CerviAmbiente award was established 50 years ago, in 1973, conceived as an international award for scholars, researchers, cities, and scientific institutions that have distinguished themselves on environmental issues. The aim was and is to give recognition to those who have defended the environment, ensuring that the theme of nature and its risks are increasingly central to the policies of institutions and the attention of citizens.
In the first edition in 1973, the Prize was awarded to Barry Commoner, an American biologist and politician. The list of illustrious personalities who have received the prize also includes Jacques Yves Cousteau, Folco Quilici, Konrad Lorenz, Sting, Simone Veil, Piero Angela, Vandana Shiva, Carlo Petrini, Donatella Bianchi, Jean Paul Fitoussi and Luca Mercalli. The 2022 awardees were Vincenzo Balzani, Gian Antonio Stella and Andrea Segre.
Special awards are also presented during the event to climatologist Carlo Cacciamani and Professor Andrea Augenti.
