Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest is a finalist in the Basilicata International Film Festival 2024, which runs October 10-12.
The Basilicata International Film Festival’s 2024 theme invites an exploration of how cinema can be a means of connecting historical and cultural traditions with innovation and the future. The festival thus becomes a starting point for a reflection on how local histories are intertwined with new forms of cinematic storytelling.
Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest is the video documentary about the experience of building the first Vertical Forest in social housing in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and opened on September 30, 2021.
The documentary by The Blink Fish (directed by Stefano Santamato and produced by Paolo Soravia) recounts-through in-depth features and interviews with the protagonists of the project-the development of the building that to date has become a new architectural icon in the Eindhoven skyline.
From the history of the Strijp-S neighborhood, a former industrial area now redeveloped, to the neighborhood’s current creative vocation, the documentary outlines Trudo Vertical Forest’s role as a landmark in the area; special attention is paid to the architectural and technological, as well as environmental, innovations related to the design development and construction of the building: prefabrication and the careful study of greenery have made it possible to significantly lower the project’s construction costs, making it economically accessible to low-income segments of the population.
