Palazzo Verde, designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti and built in 2021 in Antwerp, wins the Second Award of the Architecture Construction & Design Awards (ACD) 2022 within the category Housing (over 5 floors). The aim of the ACD Awards is to promote the strategies that architects and designers develop to confront the contemporary global challenges, and to bring the best projects into the light to inspire the future generations.
The Palazzo Verde is the new landmark of the Nieuw Zuid district in Antwerp, whose expansion plan envisages maintaining 60% of the entire area as green space. With a semi-public accessible courtyard and three large terraces designed to host the rooftop gardens, it represents a declination of the Vertical Forest model, with the aim of multiplying the presence of greenery and implementing biodiversity in contemporary cities.
