Presentazione A private glossary

On Sunday, November 17, at 6:00 PM, the Rizzoli Galleria Bookstore in Milan will host the presentation of A Private Glossary, a book by Stefano Boeri and Amos Gitai, published by Rizzoli.

As part of Bookcity Milano 2024, the volume will be presented by Stefano Boeri, with a video contribution by Amos Gitai.

The book is rooted in the biographical memories of the two authors: it explores Gitai’s artistic journey, beginning with his 1980 documentary House and continuing through to his recent installation at the Architecture Biennale, which together capture significant events in modern Middle Eastern history. It also traces Boeri’s projects, from his work with the Multiplicity collective to his research on global urban conditions, showcased at the XXIV International Exhibition “Inequalities.” Numerous personal and family references emerge, such as Stefano Boeri’s mother, architect and designer Cini Boeri, and Gitai’s mother, born in Palestine but of Russian heritage. There are also insights into the backgrounds of their fathers: Munio Gitai, an architect trained in Germany’s Bauhaus minimalism, and Renato Boeri, a neurologist and partisan.

The result is an intimate and illuminating glossary that recounts the lives of the two authors, intertwined and connected through personal and professional experiences, cultural interests, and a longstanding friendship.

Silvia Brena, journalist and writer, moderates the event.
