On the front page of Sole24Ore, the presentation of the Tirana Riverside Masterplan, the project that Stefano Boeri Architetti – together with SON-Group – presented to the Albanian Council of Ministers: the first district of Europe designed in agreement with the Government and the Municipality not only as a response to the displaced emergency – following the dramatic earthquake of 26 November 2019 – but also as the first district capable of responding to the new needs of the post-pandemic phase and to all the sustainability needs required by the climate crisis.
The Masterplan – designed for a public area located along the northern border of the Town Hall, close to the Tirana river – represents the largest urban regeneration project ever conceived, promoting a functional and social mix and welcoming different cultures and origins, in an accessible and self-sufficient district from the point of view of clean energy, water, food and all urban public services.
