For the 2018 edition of Milan Design Week, Stefano Boeri Architetti unveiled the door handle named DUE conceived as a small piece of architecture, that serves as a bridge between the human body, industrial design, and architecture. The product was designed for Dnd, an italian door handle company celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018. On this occasion Giulio Iacchetti, who has been recently appointed the art director of the company has invited 5 italian architects (besides Stefano Boeri Alfonso Femia, Maurizio Varratta, Cino Zucchi and 967 arch to resize their vision of architecture down to a small but essential object, a door handle.
Stefano Boeri architetti’s design re-imagines the handle’s relationship with its attached plate, the component secured to the door. The two traditional functional parts of the object, the grip and the attachment plate, are realized as a pair of slender, perfect equal parallelepipeds.
