In Ohga!, an online magazine, Francesco Castagna interviews Francesca Cesa Bianchi on the importance of urban regeneration and the challenges of the cities of the future, which are the basis of the research and design of the Stefano Boeri Architetti studio.
The article focuses on aspects related to mobility, energy saving, heritage recovery and urban forestation, citing some projects such as the Community House, a social-health facility for the Brescia area, the new waterfront for Cagliari, Tirana Riverside or the Smart Forest City in Cancun, a vision for a self-sufficient and sustainable city in Mexico.
“Thinking about new ways of inhabiting buildings in the cities of the future, in a perspective of greater integration with the environment, less consumption of resources – I am thinking of land and energy consumption, but water consumption is also a key issue today – is a responsibility that, as architects and urban planners, we feel is increasingly urgent,” says Francesca Cesa Bianchi.
