Visita ella regina Màxima durante la Milano Design Week

On Tuesday 18 April, Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands Máxima Zorreguieta will make an institutional visit during Milan Design Week, in connection with the involvement of Dutch designers.

The delegation’s visit starts in the Isola district of Milan, at the Library of Trees: the urban garden was designed by Dutch landscape architect Petra Blaisse, who will accompany the delegation through the park together with architect Stefano Boeri. The visit will then reach the Bosco Verticale, a project by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, Giovanni La Varra), completed in 2014. The Bosco Verticale is the prototype-building of a new architecture of biodiversity, which no longer places man alone at the centre, but the relationship between man and other living species. The first case built, in Milan in the Porta Nuova area, consists of two towers, 80 and 112 m high, housing a total of 800 trees (480 first and second size trees, 300 smaller ones), 15,000 perennials and/or ground cover plants and 5,000 shrubs. A vegetation equivalent to that of 30,000 square metres of forest and undergrowth, concentrated on 3,000 square metres of urban area.

After the first example in Milan, Stefano Boeri Architetti’s studio has realised Trudo Vertical Forest in Eindhoven – the first example of a vertical forest dedicated to social housing – and Wonderwoods, another vertical forest in Utrecht, is currently under construction, underlining the commitment and fertile collaboration between the studio and the Netherlands.
