On Tuesday, 1 April at 6.30 p.m., the Augustinianum College will host a meeting entitled ‘Ars humana aedificavit urbes. Thinking, designing and building a city‘, with the participation of Stefano Boeri.

This event forms part of the in-depth course ‘Ars humana aedificavit urbes. The city’s development agents and the challenges of urban transformations‘.The event will provide a platform for exploring the most significant urban innovations and stimulating discussions on the challenges of future cities, promoting the model of the archipelago city.

The concept of the archipelago city emphasises the importance of enhancing the functional self-sufficiency of its constituent ‘islands’ – each unique while contributing to a unified system of relationships. This concept of urban form is not only understood as spatiality, but also as a mode of social aggregation and belonging. It is an archipelago model, where the fundamental element is the district, and its ‘sea’ is constituted by the system of greenery and public mobility.

The Augustinianum College, founded in 1933 at the behest of Father Agostino Gemelli, combines moments of study and personal training with opportunities for students to meet and socialise. A significant element of the college’s mission is the organisation of periodic conferences, which bring together university professors and prominent figures from the professional world.
