The magazine YouBuild has published an in-depth feature on Bosconavigli, a residential complex designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti in collaboration with Arassociati and AG&P greenscape. Located in the San Cristoforo district of Milan, the project serves as a key connection point between the city and the riverine landscape of the Ticino and the Alzaia del Naviglio di Porta Ticinese.

The article, titled Nature in the City: From Design to Construction, details the architectural choices and construction phases, including photographs and diagrams illustrating the building process.

As part of Milan’s broader urban vision—which includes the redevelopment of former railway yards, the removal of infrastructural barriers between neighborhoods, new urban reforestation initiatives, and the enhancement of public spaces—Bosconavigli represents a pivotal element linking the city’s dense urban fabric with one of its historic districts, known for its low-density buildings and abundant greenery.

Bosconavigli features 170 trees from 60 different species, along with shrubs and climbing plants distributed across facades, rooftops, hanging gardens, balconies, and loggias. Architecturally, the building reinterprets the traditional Lombard casa a corte typology. Its spiraling volume allows for a gradual variation in height—up to a maximum of 11 levels—creating green terraces that maximize open space accessibility, both public and private, while fostering a strong connection with the surrounding natural environment.
