Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest has been selected at the Afragola Film Festival, Afragola’s architecture and design festival, held November 20-23.
The film festival looks at the relationship between architecture, design and audiovisual works. The encounter between cinema and architecture has always been rich in exchanges and intertwining: physical space can tell the story of human psychology in a direct or indirect way, through the marriage of these two arts that enhance everyday or exceptional experiences.
The Afragola Film Festival aims to evaluate stories that have a particular focus on urban, suburban or peripheral architecture that shape, form, collect, repel or enhance the stories contained therein.
The documentary Trudo Vertical Forest – a journey into the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest by The Blink Fish (directed by Stefano Santamato and produced by Paolo Soravia) recounts – through insights and interviews with the protagonists of the project – the development of the building that to date has become a new architectural icon in the Eindhoven skyline.
From the history of the Strijp-S neighborhood, a former industrial area now redeveloped, to the neighborhood’s current creative vocation, the documentary outlines Trudo Vertical Forest’s role as a landmark in the area; special attention is paid to the architectural and technological, as well as environmental, innovations related to the design development and construction of the building: prefabrication and careful study of greenery have made it possible to significantly lower the project’s construction costs, making it affordable for low-income segments of the population.
