From April 19th to September 30th, the exhibition Bio-Spaces: Regenerative Resilient Futures will be open to the public. Hosted by the Roca London Gallery, the exhibition explores biodiversity, bio-based materials, and bioregenerative design through a multisensory approach. Featured in the exhibition are projects such as the Bosco Verticale in Milan by Boeri Studio and the Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest by Stefano Boeri Architetti.
Curated by Planted, an environment-focused multimedia platform, in collaboration with consultancy firm Oliver Heath Design Studio, the interactive exhibition uses visuals and sound to explore buildings that rejuvenate local ecosystems and furniture that grows itself. The space is divided into themed and modular islands.
The first “island” highlights built environments inspired by nature, while another showcases standout products made from natural materials to promote a restorative and calming environment. Company processes ensure durability and waste elimination are central to design. Also on display, on a bio-based materials “island,” will be a selection of materials that have a positive impact on the interior and exterior environments.
The work of Stefano Boeri Architetti fits into this context, presenting the Bosco Verticale in Milan, the first example of biodiversity architecture that integrates natural elements as an integral part of the building’s design. The Easyhome Huanggang Vertical Forest, the first vertical forest built in China, develops a completely new typology in line with Chinese building regulations and traditions. It hosts a total of 404 trees, 4620 shrubs, and 2408 square meters of perennial plants, flowers, and climbers on the facades, characterized by an alternation of open balconies and closed loggias.
